1. A father talks to his young son about the terrorist attacks that happened in their home city. Ne t'inquiète pas, on n'a pas besoin de changer de maison. C'est la France notre maison.
2. In the week since the attacks in Paris, one book has been selling out in bookshops across the city. Young Parisians share passages from Hemingway's A Moveable Feast. There is never any ending to Paris and the memory of each person who has lived in it differs from that of any other.
3. The 2015 Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize has been awarded and all entries are on display in one of my very favorite annual exhibits at the NPG. I am less than impressed with this year's overall winner, but the Carovaggian Hector in second place made me laugh aloud (delightedly; is there something of a Mr Beebe about him?) and the unmitigated strength and dignity of fourth prize Amira and her Children moves me in the way I always wish from the best of portraits.
